Title: Womb of Ashes
Director: Jody B
NYU Affiliation: Non-NYU
20-30 min film about two incarcerated young men on a work detail burying New York City's indigent dead.
The film's tone will be poetic and its dialogue varied and naturalistic. It addresses a serious topic with all of the humor and awkwardness of real life. My influences in writing it were my experiences working in the carceral system, as well as my observations about race and class growing up in Alabama.
I need you to have solid pre-production experience. You aren't an expert (yet), but you're realistic, enthusiastic and open-minded. You're the kind of person who cares about learning and growth. At the same time, you're committed to the highest standards of safety and organization. You have the time to work on a microbudget project, and the willingness to see it through regardless of financial gain or lack thereof.
Please send me an email with either links to or a description of your past work, and a few lines about your interest in this specific project.
