Title: Swampy Goes to Manhattan
Director: Jared Gentile
Producer: Luis DeJesus
NYU Affiliation: Undergraduate
SWAMPY (late 20s) – male lead. A kindhearted but introverted swamp-person, whose bog is paved over to make room for a parking lot. Swampy is trying to adapt to new surroundings and a foreign way of life after having lost everything he had.
BOB (mid 40s) – male lead. A comically straightforward construction worker who is without complaints as to how the world is run. Sees himself as a cog in the larger machine that is his sister Barbara’s vision. He’s perfectly fine with being a cog, though he has a soft spot where Barbara doesn’t.
BARBARA (mid 40s) – female lead. A calculating, rather eccentric CEO with the future in mind. She is fixated on efficiency, success, and keeping her employees happy. She will accomplish her goals at any cost, and has no time for idle chatter.
RICKY – supporting role. Ricky is a tiger who has been taken from his family and everything he knew in the jungle to become the corporate mascot of Barbara’s development company. He communicates through growls and roars. He is unhappy with his new job and just wants to be free.
TOAD – supporting role. Toad is a frog from the same bog Swampy is from, and he is Swampy’s best friend. He communicates through frog noises. He’s constantly worried about his safety and expects Swampy to protect him. Toad looks out for himself first, to comic effect.
