A Play for Us
Seeking Student Actors and Performers for the Following Roles:
PARKER (16-20) - Both a wallflower and a book worm, Parker often spends his time reading plays, using the world and words of playwrights to substitute the words he often has trouble formulating. Usually reserved and easily flustered, he is not used to being the center of someone’s attention, and it fairly comfortable when left to his own devices. When he meets Will, he gradually grows attached to him, and feels that, for the first time, someone actually sees him for who he is.
WILL (16-20) - Outgoing and extroverted by nature, Will is the kind of high school student everyone knows and adores. Friendly and engaging, he often makes those he talks to like they are the center of his focus and concern. Although he doesn’t initially perceive that Parker is romantically interested in him, Will plays a big role in Parker’s life, as no one else seems to greet and talk with him as often or regularly.
HANSCHEN (16-20) - A high school student, Hanschen plays the role of his self-righteous and bold namesake in their high school production of Spring Awakening. He stage kisses Ernst.
ERNST (16-20) - A high school student and theatre kid, Ernst plays the role of his quiet, sensitive namesake in their high school production of Spring Awakening. He stage kisses Hanschen.
We are additionally seeking DAY PLAYERS to fill in for various high school student roles, some of which are minor speaking parts.
Casting ‘A Play for Us,’ an NYU Student, LGBT, coming-of-age short film. Synopsis: When Parker meets and falls for Will following the auditions for their high school’s musical, Parker turns to plays texts in order to tell Will how he feels, ultimately writing his own play when the others fail to capture how he feels. Inspired by the Musical, Spring Awakening.
