Casting: The Flick by Annie Baker
AVERY: (Male, person of color)
A small, soft-spoken male in his 20’s. He is the educated son of a semiotics professor at a local liberal arts college; a movie geek obsessed with preserving 35mm film projection (as opposed to digital).
SAM: (Male, all ethnicities)
Slightly awkward, uncomfortable high-school graduate still living with his parents. He’s hopelessly in love with Rose, but far too intimidated to share his feelings. Wants the approval of the people in his life.
WHAT TO PREPARE:
Please prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue and please bring a headshot and resume.
*please make sure you are available for rehearsal on Wednesday nights and Friday nights (Please note those days are subject to change)*
Written by Annie Baker. Directed by Chris Guzman. Produced by Emma Hart and Stonestreet Studios. Casting "The Flick", a Pulitzer Prize winning play about three underpaid employees in a rundown movie theater in central MA, who mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35 millimeter film projectors in the state. It centers around their every changing relationships and heartbreaks. We watch as these dynamics all play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the movies they are watching on screen.
Dates of Production
Rehearsals start 3/7 and will take place normally on Wednesday and Friday evenings. Tech and Performance Week: 5/6- 5/13
